Come nasce la magia del Gran Ballo della Venaria Reale

La magia e il sogno del Gran Ballo della Venaria Reale non si manifestano solamente la sera del ballo, ma si sprigionano anche nelle ore e nei giorni che lo precedono. L’incontro tra le debuttanti e gli Aspiranti Guardiamarina avviene all’interno della storica Accademia Navale di Livorno la domenica precedente. Comincia la conoscenza, gli sguardi e magari si gettano i semi per la nascita di qualche nuovo amore. Durante la giornata vengono formate le coppie e la coreografa, Ida Pezzotti, inizierà con loro le prime prove di ballo. Diverse attività formative e culturali li vedranno impegnati nel corso della settimana poi il fatidico arrivo nella splendida Reggia Sabauda della Venaria Reale.

Qui fin dalla mattina fervono i preparativi, l’orchestra prova la musica; le debuttanti vengono truccate e pettinate per poi indossare i loro candidi abiti, creati per l’occasione dalle sapienti mani di Carlo Pignatelli; gli Aspiranti Guardiamarina in divisa si aggirano per le sale. L’emozione è palpabile, ognuno di loro porta nel cuore il suo sogno e negli occhi quel particolare scintillio di felicità. Chiacchierando con una ex debuttante mi racconta che proprio la sera del ballo s’innamorò di un Aspirante Guardiamarina che, come spesso accade, non era il suo compagno per la serata, ma era in coppia con un’altra debuttante. Fu un colpo di fulmine per entrambi, una storia con un bellissimo finale perché i due hanno convolato a nozze pochi anni dopo. Chissà che anche questa edizione non abbia portato fortuna a qualche giovane amore.

The meeting between the debutantes and the Aspiring Midshipman takes place inside the historic Naval Academy of Livorno on the previous Sunday. The acquaintance begins, the looks and maybe the seeds are sown for the birth of some new love. During the day, the couples are formed and the choreographer, Ida Pezzotti, will begin the first dance rehearsals with them. Various educational and cultural activities will see them engaged during the week, then the fateful arrival in the splendid Savoy Palace of Venaria Reale. Here, preparations are in full swing since the morning, the orchestra rehearses music; the debutantes are made up and combed and then put on their white dresses, created for the occasion by the skilled hands of Carlo Pignatelli; Aspiring Ensigns in uniform roam the halls. The emotion is palpable, each of them carries their dream in their hearts and that particular sparkle of happiness in their eyes. Chatting with a ex debutante, she tells me that on the night of the ball she fell in love with an Aspiring Midshipman who, as often happens, was not her partner for the evening, but was paired with another debutante. It was love at first sight for both of them, a story with a beautiful ending because the two got married a few years later. Maybe this edition has also brought good luck to some young love.
