Castello Dal Pozzo

Le residenze storiche suscitano in me un fascino particolare, hanno una bellezza che trascende il tempo crescendo con esso. Così non mi stancherò mai di andare alla ricerca di quei luoghi che hanno qualcosa da raccontare e che hanno il potere di incantare. Nei pressi del Lago maggiore sorge un antico maniero risalente al X secolo, oggi trasformato in un magnifico Resort di Lusso.

Da questi luoghi i Visconti, attorno al 1200, si mossero per conquistare la signoria di Milano che avvenne nel 1277. Nei secoli successivi il castello fu abbandonato e solo verso la metà del XVI secolo i discendenti dei Visconti, divenuti nel frattempo d’Aragona, decisero di riprenderlo in mano. Alberto Visconti d’Aragona lo lasciò alla sorella Virginia, moglie di Bonifazio dal Pozzo d’Annone, che iniziò un’importante opera di restauro che ne ha mantenuto lo stile Gotico Revival e tutt’oggi appartiene ancora alla famiglia. Come molti castelli anche questo è legato alla leggenda di un fantasma. La bella figlia di Alberto Visconti, Barbara, s’innamorò del capitano Matteo de Grandis, ospite del castello, ma lei era promessa sposa al figlio di un vicino feudatario. Quando Matteo partì per un nuovo incarico e il padre di lei venne a sapere dell’amore tra i due, la rinchiuse nella torre. La fanciulla morì aspettando invano il suo amato. La fantasia popolare narra che il fantasma della bella Barbara, in attesa di Matteo, vaghi ancor oggi senza pace in cerca del suo amore perduto.

Fu nel 1997 che Cassiano Dal Pozzo decise di trasformare la storica residenza di famiglia in un luogo esclusivo di ospitalità e ad oggi il resort ha 45 bellissime camere, un ristorante Gourmet “Le Fief”, il “Dan” Garden Lounge, il “Folia” Pool & Bar e una rinfrescante piscina.

Historic residences arouse a special charm in me, they have a beauty that transcends time growing with it. So I will never tire of going in search of those places that have something to tell and that have the power to enchant. There is an ancient manor dating back to the tenth century, now transformed into a magnificent Luxury Resort near Lake Maggiore. From these places the Visconti, around 1200, moved to conquer the lordship of Milan which took place in 1277. In the following centuries the castle was abandoned and only towards the middle of the sixteenth century the descendants of the Visconti, who in the meantime had become Aragon, decided to take it back in their hands. Alberto Visconti d’Aragona left it to his sister Virginia, wife of Bonifazio dal Pozzo d’Annone, who began an important restoration work that has maintained the Gothic Revival style and still belongs to the family today. Like many castles, this one is also linked to the legend of a ghost. Alberto Visconti’s beautiful daughter, Barbara, fell in love with Captain Matteo de Grandis, a guest of the castle, but she was betrothed to the son of a nearby feudal lord. When Matteo left for a new assignment and her father learned of the love between the two, he locked her in the tower. The girl died waiting in vain for her beloved. Popular imagination has it that the ghost of the beautiful Barbara, waiting for Matteo, still wanders peacelessly in search of her lost love. It was in 1997 that Cassiano Dal Pozzo decided to transform the historic family residence into an exclusive place of hospitality and today the resort has 45 beautiful rooms, a Gourmet restaurant “Le Fief”, the “Dan” Garden Lounge, the “Folia” Pool & Bar and a refreshing swimming pool.
